ABOUT

Gosforth Musical Society (formerly the Gosforth Presbyterian Musical Society, Gosforth United Reformed Church Musical Society and Gosforth Trinity Musical Society) was formed in 1929, and has produced at least one show a year since then (excepting the war years 1940-1944).

We welcome anyone to our society, and if you are interested, we would love to have you join us.

Our main show is in April.  We produce a fully staged and costumed production with a full orchestra at the Jubilee Theatre in the grounds of St Nicholas' Hospital, Gosforth.

We rehearse from November until April, with the chorus meeting on Monday nights from 7.30 - 9.30pm, with a tea break in the middle. Principals have additional rehearsals on Wednesday nights.

Our rehearsals are generally held at the Trinity Christian Community Centre on Freeman Road (just down the hill from the Freeman Hospital).

In April 2020 we present Ruddigore.

In the Autumn we perform a smaller, semi-staged show.  These have been devised pieces, often including songs which may sound strangely familiar.  We rehearse this show during the first few weeks of our rehearsal period alongside our main show, and perform in local venues.  In November 2019 we will be performing Salad Days, in Gosforth Civic Theatre.

In the summer we also produce a fun "singalong" show with excerpts from popular shows.  All are very welcome!
