Auditions for Ruddigore

Gosforth Musical Society will perform Ruddigore between 29/4/2020 and 2/5/2020.  We would now like to invite one and all to audition for principal roles.  The auditions will commence at 2pm on Sunday 27 October at our usual rehearsal venue.

Dialogue audition pieces for Ruddigore are at the bottom of this page.  You can choose the piece you want to read at the audition but please select the one that you think will best show the panel what you can do.

Music pieces:

Robin: “My boy you may take it from me” 2 verses, p30

Richard: “I Ship’d d’ye see” 2 verses, p28

Despard: “Oh why am I moody and sad”, p54

Old Adam: “I once was as meek” both solo lines, Adam’s harmony line, p94

Roderick: “When the night wind howls” 2 verses, p111

Rose: “If somebody there chanced to be”, p19

Margaret: “Cheerily carols the lark” start to “nothing to me” & “to a garden full of posies” to end (1 verse), p44

Hannah: “Sir Rupert murgatrody his leisure” from “once on a village green” to end, p15

Zorah (as Rose)

Ruth (any above)

Page numbers are using the Chappel edition of the vocal score.

The audition panel will ask your role preference, but as in past years the show will be cast based on what we see on the night, taking into consideration the best fit for parts.

Hard copies of the pieces will be available at rehearsals.

Auditionees will be informed of the outcome of their audition by email.
